Robson Issues Apology To Fans

"First off I must apologise to our fans. We had 3,500 fans down here who were fantastic and it is a shame we did not do the same on the pitch," he said after the game at Craven Cottage.

"We started the game quite well and then the first time their goalkeeper kicks the ball down the park, they score. It's schoolboy stuff.

"Their centre-forward got onto it and we were a goal down after we'd started quite well. That summed up my defence - they were shocking today.

"There's no excuse. If you defend like that in any division you are going to get beat. Hopefully that is a one-off because I cannot see us ever performing that badly again this season.

"It was embarrassing and it hurt my pride. I hope my players are feeling as bad as I do right now. You don't want to see your team performing in that manner.

"We thought there might have been a way back into it at the start of the second half. But the first time they got on the ball again they ran through our defence and we were 3-0 down, then all the bad habits come in.

"It was nothing to do with the shape, it was just bad defending by the individuals. They got out-muscled and that is very unlike my lads.

"The second half was a bad start for us and at 3-0 we were poor at everything we did.

"Tomasz Kuszczak has a split eye and possibly a broken rib. How the referee didn't see anything is beyond me. It was an awful challenge."
