West Brom midfielder Ronnie Wallwork has been inundated with messages of support as he continues his recovery from a stabbing. The 29-year-old, who suffered injuries to his hand, stomach and back in an incident at the Sugar Lounge bar in Manchester city centre last week, remains in a serious condition in hospital. Agent Neil Sillett has revealed Wallwork has been contacted by many players and managers with whom he has worked throughout his career. Sillett says Wallwork is grateful to the well-wishers but will primarily need the support of his family if he is to recover from his ordeal and play football again.
Sillett said: "Due to the level of interest in Ronnie's health and well-being, we have to say that Ronnie remains in a serious condition in hospital. At this stage, it is premature to state when he might return to playing football again, but he is receiving excellent treatment and he would like to take this opportunity to thank all the doctors and others in charge of his care. Ronnie's family and close friends have been at his bedside in hospital and he has received many calls and good wishes from current and former team-mates and managers. Ronnie is really grateful for all of those calls, but he has been advised that for him to recuperate fully and as quickly as possible, he should as of now be contacted only by his family circle."
