Squad Not Good Enough Insists Robson

Fans vented their anger towards the new Albion boss blaming his team selection for the 4-0 drubbing at St Andrews on Saturday which left the Baggies firmly rooted at the foot of the Premiership table.

"We're six games in and I'm working with what I was left," Robson has said.

"It hurts that they have a go at me. I always thought the Albion fans were fair-minded. I believe these are the best players I've got in the squad but it's not good enough at the moment.

"You work hard on the training pitch and if people can't do basic defending, there's not much you can do about that.

"It was awful defending by us, shocking in the first 20 minutes and we had no platform to get back after that.

"I'm looking at the players and the table doesn't lie. You look at the amount of goals we have conceded and I can see why. It's just bad play. I'm concerned we'll be too far adrift before January.

"The set-up with five in midfield had worked at Arsenal and Portsmouth and I wanted to protect the centre-halves, but we couldn't cope with Morrison and Heskey."
