Stand-in skipper pulls no punches

Paul Robinson has urged his team-mates not to let their recent good form go to waste after the Baggies' disappointing 3-2 defeat yesterday.

Albion have now lost their last two home games after winning the previous three to move within a win of relegation safety.

All three goals yesterday could've been prevented with a collection of individual errors and lack of concentration costing Albion dear. Now, with Albion still only two points from 15th place, the replacement captain has told his colleagues to cut out silly mistakes if they are to survive in the Premier League.

"It was pretty embarrassing and shambolic to concede goals like we did," the former Watford man said truthfully.

"It doesn't help us and won't push us forward to where we want to go.

"We've got to stop these silly mistakes because it's not good enough.

"We need to pick ourselves up and keep going - it's as simple as that.

"We know we're better than that and we need to put things right.

"We've got to be professional about our jobs.

"Now's not the time to let things slip.

"We've worked so hard to get ourselves in a good position.

"Some of the results have gone our way today but they are not going to be like that week in, week out."

Although disappointed, Robinson insists the Baggies' league position is far from critical and called upon the character shown in the 2005 Great Escape to be recreated in forthcoming fixtures.

"You can't gift teams two goals when you're playing against quality players," Robbo continued.

"It's impossible to claw the game back.

"We nearly did claw it back because we've got good characters in the dressing room.

"Now we need to stick together as players.

"We've done it before so, why can't we do it again?"
