Albion captain Jonathan Greening has described teammate Kevin Phillips as one of the best professionals he has ever worked with. The former York City, Manchester United and Middlesbrough midfielder paid homage to the 34-year-old forward after 'Super-Kev' scored his 16th goal of the season against Hull.

Despite missing six weeks of the campaign with a serious knee injury Phillips' 16 goals in as many starts took him three goals clear in the scoring charts with his goals and his assist for James Morrison reaping praise from Greening.

"'Super' has been different class for us," the captain said.

"He's one of the best professionals I've ever worked with.

"He is still like a teenager in and around the training ground and wanting to play the game.

"He's been brilliant for us."

Greening also revealed how Phillips asked for the 'Super' tag on his arrival from neighbours Aston Villa last term.

"When Kev first came to the club he asked to be called 'Super!'" Greening continued

"We thought he was a bit of an idiot but now we understand why he's called that.

"He's been out for six weeks with a knee injury so he really is something special.

"Everyone appreciates him."
