Tamas and squad to stay professional

Romanian international Gabriel Tamas insists nobody in the Albion squad is easing off after gaining promotion and breaking the club’s record points tally for a season.  The Baggies can still beat the Championship’s points haul for finishing second place and enter the club’s top-five sides scoring charts.

Roberto Di Matteo’s side have now scored 88 times in the league with Tamas netting his second of the season to earn Albion a point against Crystal Palace on Monday.  The on loan Auxerre defender has revealed how his Baggies boss has now set a new incentive for his players ahead of the last game of the season against Barnsley on Sunday (KO 1pm).

"The gaffer and the staff told us we have a goal now to beat 92 points," said Tamas.

"The maximum points ever for second place was 92, so we hope to win at home to achieve that goal.

"Also we reached the goal of beating the club points record.

"We had two goals and now we have one more.

"It means something because it means we have worked for something.

"And we are not on holiday right now - our holidays come after one more game.

"We are professional footballers and this is football so we must want to win every game.

"It doesn't matter whether we are promoted or not."
