Albion won for the first time since 1977 at St. James' Park in the league after taking the lead three times in a thrilling game.
Peter Odemwingie opened the scoring for Albion before Gareth McAuley scored his first to restore the lead minutes before half time. After Newcastle had equalised for a second time after the break, Paul Scharner scored an excellent volley in the 85th minute to record a well deserved victory.
James Morrison won the Blackburn accolade with 45.7% of the votes.
