Bryan Robson has been linked with a move for Everton's versatile defender Steve Watson.
The out-of-contract 31-year-old is believed to be the solution to Albion's search for a right-back.
The former Newcastle and Villa man has yet to commit his future at Goodison Park and is due to hold further talks with David Moyes.
But Robson is now set to step in with the offer of a two-year deal as he looks to piece his squad together.
Dane Martin Albrechtsen filled the position towards the end of last season but looked uncomfortable in his unusual role.
