"It's been reported that I approached Bryan Robson with a view to swapping Nathan with Earnshaw," Jewell told Wigan's official website.
"I can categorically state that these stories are untrue.
"More talks are planned this week with Nathan and his representatives about the possibility of him signing a new, long-term contract but, even if it doesn't happen, he's still got another year to run on his current deal and he's an important part of my plans for this year."
